Stick Season Chords & Guitar Lesson

Welcome to Stick Season by chords and guitar lesson by Noah Kahan. I remember the first time I heard this song on YouTube music. I'm usually not into newer music but it was really the lyrics that caught my attention.

I heard the song and said, wow this is some great song writing. And being a New Englander that often lives through Stick Season, I thought it appropriate to try a newer song that is a lot of fun to play.

The chords below are relative to a capo being played on the second fret of the guitar.

CAPO 2nd Fret

Intro:
G  G

VERSE:
                   G                                                                G
As you promised me that I was more than all the miles combined
                                D                                                                    D
You must have had yourself a change of heart like halfway through the drive
                           Em                                                           Em
'Cause your voice trailed off exactly as you passed my exit sign
   C                                                                    C
Kept on driving straight and left our future to the right

VERSE:
                       G                                                                 G
Now I am stuck between my anger and the blame that I can't face
                      D                                                                     D
And memories are something even smoking weed does not replace
                     Em                                                 Em
And I am terrified of weather 'cause I see you when it rains
   C                                                                 C
Doc told me to travel but there's COVID on the planes

CHORUS:
             G*
And I love Vermont but it's the season of the sticks and I
   D*
Saw your mom, she forgot that I existed
                 Em*
And it's half my fault but I just like to play the victim
                 D*                                                                 D
I'll drink alcohol till my friends come home for Christmas
                  G                                                  G
And I'll dream each night of some version of you
                D                                      D
That I might not have but I did not lose
                         Em                               Em
Now you're tire tracks and one pair of shoes
                     D                                      E                            G              G
And I'm split in half but that'll have to do ooh ooh

VERSE:
            G                                                                G
So I thought that if I piled something good on all my bad
                           D                                                     D
That I could cancel out the darkness I inherited from dad
                 Em                                            Em
No, I am no longer funny 'cause I miss the way you laugh
            D                                                              D
You once called me forever, now you still can't call me back

CHORUS:
             G                                                 G
And I love Vermont but it's the season of the sticks and I
  D                                         D
Saw your mom, she forgot that I existed
                  Em                                    Em
And it's half my fault but I just like to play the victim
                  C                             C
I'll drink alcohol till my friends come home for Christmas
                   G                                                G
And I'll dream each night of some version of you
                D                                     D
That I might not have but I did not lose
                        Em                                Em
Now you're tire tracks and one pair of shoes
                    D                                       E                            G
And I'm split in half but that'll have to do ooh ooh

BRIDGE:
G                                  D    D
Oh, that'll have to do
                                     Em Em
My other half was you
                                                  C
I hope this pain's just passing through
                D
But I doubt it

CHORUS:
             G*
And I love Vermont but it's the season of the sticks and I
   D*
Saw your mom, she forgot that I existed
                 Em*
And it's half my fault but I just like to play the victim
                 D*                                                                 D
I'll drink alcohol till my friends come home for Christmas
                  G                                                  G
And I'll dream each night of some version of you
                D                                      D
That I might not have but I did not lose
                         Em                               Em
Now you're tire tracks and one pair of shoes
                     D                                      E                            G              G
And I'm split in half but that'll have to do ooh ooh
